Associate Professor Nadine Kasparian is an NHMRC Career Development Fellow and Senior Researcher in Medical Psychology at the School of Women's & Children's Health, UNSW Medicine, The University of NSW. She is also Head of Psychology at the Heart Centre for Children, the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (Westmead and Randwick), and leads a growing team of 16 researchers, clinicians and students committed to excellence in the psychological care of children, adults and families affected by critical or chronic illness. Together with Professor Scott Menzies and a team of colleagues in Sydney, Nadine has developed a psycho-educational program to address fear of cancer recurrence and psychological stress experienced by people at high risk of melanoma, which is currently being tested within a randomised controlled trial. Her work focuses on discovery of factors which contribute to psychological risk and resilience in medical settings, development and trial of novel prevention and early intervention programs using new technologies, and translation of research into clinical benefit.
Nadine will work with the CRE team in Program II to translate the psychoeducational program into optimal support for people with many naevi.
